The concept of imago (image) dei (God) is rooted in the very first passages of the Hebrew Scriptures. As the saga of creation continued, God paused. “Let us,” God whispered into the ears of the Word and the Spirit, “make humanity in our image” (Genesis 1:27). Of all of God’s beautiful creation, only humanity bears God’s image in this specific way.
This reality unites us, regardless of the lines that are drawn between us in other aspects of our lives. The deep reality is that all of us belong, all of us are made in God’s image, and exclusion is antithetical to the mission of Jesus. This is the truth we want to embody at Re:imago. We want to recapture and remember this unifying image of God that is in all of us.
Many feel that they (or others) don’t belong in church fellowship.We disagree. At Christ’s table, all are welcomed.
